Eleanor and Olivia's story

Eleanor and her daughter Olivia wanted to find something that they could both do together to raise funds and awareness of MND.

It means so much to them to find a cure as MND runs in the family and their dad/grandpa died of MND in August 2021.

Give It Up! was the perfect event as Olivia gave up her favourite food chicken nuggets for a month, and Eleanor gave up anything sweet – no easy task!

"We both felt so proud at the end of the month and couldn’t believe that we raised over £1,300!"

Motor neurone disease (MND) gradually stops messages from motor neurones reaching the muscles which can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe. It has no cure. But, with your help, at the MND Association we're fighting back. We're focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The money you raise makes a huge difference

£10 provides an information pack for a newly diagnosed person with MND
£500 funds a table device with communication software, giving the ability to communicate with loved ones
£750 Funds an MND expert researcher for a week
