We're suggesting taking part in the challenge in January, but feel free to Give It Up! whenever suits you.
What could I give up?
Are you too tempted by chocolates? Could you quit alcohol? How about stopping using plastic for the month? You can choose to give up whatever you like, it's completely up to you!
What happens if I slip up?
We all make mistakes and have slip ups, and that’s okay. Take a look at our free passes in the Toolkit. Use these if you have a slip up or if you fall off the wagon. Simply make a small donation to your fundraiser and carry on. Alternatively, if you have a big celebration coming up, and you know you would like to indulge in the item you are giving up, how about using our ‘Whoops’ free pass, and make a donation to your fundraiser.
Can I take part if I am under 18?
Yes you can! We will ask for your parent or guardian’s consent before you take on the challenge.
How can I share my progress?
You’ll have access to the toolkit to share on social media, to let your friends and family know how you're getting on. Make sure to keep people in the loop by keeping your fundraising page updated too. Use #GiveItUp4MND to appear on our social feed.
How much money do I have to raise?
There is no minimum sponsorship target to take part in the challenge. Every penny counts. The more money you can raise, the more support we can provide for people living with MND today. To find out more how your money can help make a difference, take a look at our the difference you could make info sheet.
What is motor neurone disease (MND)?
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease which affects the brain and the spinal cord. It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe. 5,000 people are currently living with MND in the UK. There is no cure. Take a look at our key facts and information.
Where does my sponsorship money go?
All of the money donated on your Give It Up! challenge will come straight to the MND Association, which means you don't have to worry about transferring any money or handling any cash. The money you raise will help us focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
What should I do if I’m worried about MND?
MND Connect is our charity funded helpline and can offer information and support on all aspects of motor neurone disease (MND). MND Connect is available Monday to Friday between 9am - 5pm and 7pm - 10:30pm. Calls to this number are free from landlines and mobile phones within the UK and do not appear on itemised bills.
